Incorporating in Singapore for international business

Has anyone here considered or actually incorporated a company in Singapore as a foreigner? I'm looking into expanding into Asian markets and keep hearing Singapore is a solid gateway due to its location, tax setup, and ease of doing business. But is it really worth it compared to other options like Hong Kong or Dubai? Any real experiences with the process, costs, or actual benefits for non-residents?

Yeah, I've looked into it quite a bit for my own consulting side project. Singapore stands out mainly because of its strategic spot in ASEAN – gives pretty good access to a huge market without too many barriers, plus strong IP protection and a stable environment. The corporate tax is 17% but with startup exemptions it can be way lower for the first few years, and no capital gains tax is nice.

Worth checking this detailed breakdown from someone who's gone through it: https://taxus.tech/blog/international-business/incorporating-in-singapore-gateway-to-asias-market-innovation-hub/ – helped me decide it's a strong option for innovation-focused businesses.

Recommendations for language schools in Toronto?

Hi everyone, I'm planning to move to Toronto soon and want to improve my English before starting work/studies. I'm looking for a good language school that's not too expensive, has small classes, and focuses on practical conversation skills rather than just grammar. Has anyone studied at schools in the downtown or midtown area recently? What was your experience with teachers, class sizes, and overall value? Also, any that offer flexible schedules or evening options?

I've taken courses at a few places in Toronto over the past couple of years, and one that stood out for practical English and friendly atmosphere was Toronto Imperial School. The classes were small (usually 8-12 people), teachers were patient and focused a lot on real-life speaking/listening rather than endless worksheets. They have flexible start dates and some evening/weekend groups, which was perfect for me since I was working part-time. Prices were reasonable compared to bigger chain schools, and the location is convenient (close to public transit). They also helped with things like pronunciation and workplace vocab. If you're considering options, it's worth checking their programs many students I met were happy with the progress they made in just a few months. Overall, solid choice if you're after something effective without the huge corporate feel.

Has anyone tried black interior doors in their home?

I'm renovating my place and considering switching to darker doors for a more modern look. I've seen some homes with black ones and they seem to add nice contrast, especially with white walls or light floors. But I'm worried they might show dust/scratches too easily or make rooms feel smaller. What’s your experience with them? Are they worth it, or should I stick to something neutral?

I've had black interior doors for a couple of years now and honestly, they transformed the space give that moody, contemporary vibe without being over the top. They do show fingerprints a bit more than white ones, but a quick wipe keeps them looking sharp, and they hide small scuffs better than you'd think. The contrast really makes the rooms feel more defined. If you're going for that style, check out some options here: an interior black door can be a solid choice depending on the finish (matte hides marks better than gloss). Overall, no regrets on my end just plan for occasional touch-ups like any painted surface.

Thinking about black interior doors – good idea or overkill?

Hi all, remodeling the hallway and bedrooms and considering painting or buying black interior doors to create more contrast against light walls and floors. Looks stylish in photos, but I’m worried they might make the space feel smaller or show every fingerprint. Has anyone installed black interior door in their home recently? How’s the maintenance and overall vibe after a year or so?

I went with black interior doors about 18 months ago and I’m still happy with the decision. They give a modern, almost hotel-like feel without being too dramatic when the rest of the room stays bright. Dust and smudges are actually less noticeable than on white doors (weird, but true). Just get a good semi-gloss or matte finish. I ended up ordering mine from Trio Doors because they had a decent range of styles and sizes in stock – you can see their black interior door selection black interior door options here. Measure twice though, custom sizes took a bit longer. Would do it again.

How do you actually find cheap flights these days?

With all the price trackers and alerts out there, I'm still ending up paying way more than I see others posting about. What sites or tricks are you guys using right now to catch really low fares without spending hours every day?

Honestly, most big aggregators are hit or miss now because of all the dynamic pricing. Lately I've been checking tripmydream quite a bit – it shows flights from tons of airlines and agencies in one place and has this price prediction feature that tells you if the ticket is likely to get cheaper or if you should book now. Saved me about €80 on a round-trip last month. Not always the absolute cheapest, but the interface is clean and it doesn't bombard you with ads. Anyone else using something similar?

Anyone used movers in the Chicago suburbs lately?

Planning a move from Naperville to Schaumburg next month. It's a 2-bedroom house, some furniture is heavy, and I have a lot of boxes already packed. Looking for a company that’s reliable, doesn’t do hidden fees, and ideally has decent insurance. Any recent experiences with local movers? Good or bad ones?

I moved from Aurora to Elgin last summer and went through a few quotes before picking one. Ended up pretty satisfied overall they were on time, wrapped everything properly, and didn’t try to upsell me on stuff I didn’t need. The crew was careful with the stairs too. If you're searching around Chicago area, I’d say check https://move4umovers.com/ that’s who I used. Got a fair price after comparing, and their communication was solid from quote to finish. Just make sure to book early because weekends fill up fast. Hope it goes smoothly for you!

Recommended access panel for drywall in kitchen remodel?

Hey folks, I'm doing a kitchen remodel and need to add an access panel in the drywall behind the sink for future plumbing maintenance. Looking for something sturdy, moisture-resistant, and that can be painted to match the wall. Any suggestions on a good plastic one that's easy to install without framing?

For kitchen or bathroom areas, you want something that won't warp from humidity. A reliable option is this access panel for drywall made from high-impact ABS plastic with a reinforced frame. The door pops off completely for full access, and the surface is textured to accept paint or even tile over if you want. Installation is straightforward—just cut the hole, apply adhesive or screws, and mud the edges for a seamless look. It's held up great in similar setups I've seen.
